-This obviously isn't the first time something this drastic has happened on a social networking site, children have been bullied and mislead various times before. But ever since facebook and other social networking sites have emerged into our children's lives over the past few years kids have felt compelled to engage in conversation with people they aren't familiar with and hide these encounters from their parents.
-Since children leading double lives is becoming more and more common parents are reaching out to facebook and asking the social networking site to place a button on the main page that allows users to easily report any harrasment or bullying issues. Parry Aftab Expert: facebook is currently doing all it can to ensure safety, the rest is up to its users and for younger users their parents. Parents should be aware of what their children are doing on social networking sites and users themselves should take the necessary steps to ensure their own safety on these sites, such as not providing a ton of information about themselves and being cautious of who they meet and talk to online.
Ryan Pierce: We would like to think that after hearing Ashleigh Hall's story you and your children can walk away being safer facebook and social network users. Talk to your children to ensure their saftey and make sure they aren't living a double life like that of Ashleigh Hall.
-Thank you for watching this evening.
